IPL 2018 Match 34, Kings XI Punjab vs Mumbai Indians: Suryakumar Yadav in action

IPL 2018, KXIP vs MI Highlights

IPL, INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE (IPL) 2018 MATCH 34, KINGS XI PUNJAB vs MUMBAI INDIANS: Hello and welcome to our live ipl cricket coverage of the match no. 34 of Indian Premier League 2018 between Kings XI Punjab and Mumbai Indians at the Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore. Everyone in the city of Bollywood will know this, but the importance of this win cannot be understated for the visitors. They had a stiff task ahead of them. Evin Lewis and Suryakumar Yadav (who scored a fifty) started the chase with 175 to gun down. The former departed in the Powerplay, but the latter combined with Ishan Kishan to take things in their stride. A couple of wickets were lost in quick succession, but Hardik stepped in to score a lusty blow. The real damage, however, and the fatal blow, was done when the other Pandya walked in. Krunal's blitzkrieg and his stand of fifty in 18 balls along with skipper Rohit Sharma was enough to see their side across the finish line.

Possibly the break made Punjab a little rusty. Their over-reliance on Chris Gayle and KL Rahul was exposed tonight. The two provided a solid start, but the innings fell apart after their departure. If it wasn't for Marcus Stoinis' last-over heroics, the hosts wouldn't have even got to a fighting total. With the ball, they were on top for the most part, with everyone doing their bit, but Krunal Pandya's late onslaught aided by Rohit Sharma's own little cameo, became their undoing. Some work to be done for the home side, but Mumbai will rejoice. (CRICKET STREAMING - KXIP vs MI) (SCORECARD) (IPL Full Coverage)

HIGHLIGHTS, KINGS XI PUNJAB vs MUMBAI INDIANS, IPL 2018, MATCH 34 FROM INDORE

23.51 IST:

23.35 IST:

23.32 IST: FOUR LEG-BYES!  And that's it, the job is done. MUMBAI WIN BY 6 WICKETS! The final runs didn't come in the most desirable manner, but nobody cares, especially the Mumbai dugout. Tye spears it full around off, Krunal swings and misses. It goes off his back pad and away to the third man boundary. The Punjab players appeal for a leg before, but the umpire remains unmoved. Mumbai Indians (176/4) beat Kings XI Punjab (174/6) by 6 wickets in Indore. Suryakumar 57, Krunal 31*, Rahman 2/37

23.29 IST: SIX! Right in the slot and that's gone miles into the stands. The 50-run stand is up with this. Krunal Pandya stands his ground and murders this powerfully across the line. Clears wide long on and Mumbai are on the verge of a vital win here. MI 170/4 in 18.3 overs

23.28 IST: FOUR! Slower delivery on a back of a length, Krunal picks this up quickly. Waits for it and then slices it over point to find the fence. MI 164/4 in 18.2 overs

Andrew Tye comes back into the attack.

23.25 IST: SIX! That's a biiiiiigggggg hit! Krunal Pandya is taking it to Marcus Stoinis. 20 off the over. Just ahead of a length on middle and off, the slower one, Krunal gets his front foot out of the way and launches it high and handsome over long on. Maximum! MI 159/4 in 18 overs

23.24 IST: FOUR! Now Krunal joins in on the action. Width offered outside off, the southpaw doesn't need any second invitation to go after this. He crashes it through the covers and finds the fence. MI 149/4 in 17.4 overs

23.23 IST: FOUR! Class, all class! When he's on song, there are few better. Punjab need to be weary of his threat now. Very full and outside off, Rohit's already picked his spot as he drills the drive through extra cover for a boundary. MI 144/4 in 17.2 overs

23.21 IST: SIX! Down the track and bang goes Rohit Sharma! 14 off the over. He finally cuts loose. Charges out and slogs the full ball over the mid-wicket fence for half a dozen. 36 in 18 now. MI 139/4 in 17 overs

23.18 IST:

Mujeeb Ur Rahman back on.

23.17 IST: SIX! Perfect start to the over from the Mumbai skipper. He sees the ball coming full, so throws his front leg out of the way and hammers it back down the ground and into the sightscreen. Shot. MI 131/4 in 16.1 overs

23.15 IST: FOUR! Whipped away with class. Superb shot. Fuller and slower on the pads, Krunal brings the wrists into the play and hits it through mid-wicket. A touch square and nobody's out there. It goes across the rope. MI 125/4 in 15.4 overs

Strategic break.

23.11 IST: OUT! Tye removes Hardik for 23. Mumbai Indians 120/4 in 15.3 overs vs Kings XI Punjab (174/6)

However, the Aussie makes a total mess of this and lets it through him. Boundary results. MI 106/3 in 13.3 overs

Rohit Sharma is next in.

23.01 IST: OUT! Mujeeb has his revenge. This is a superb delivery. Bowls the carrom ball on off, shorter in length, Kishan gives the charge and is done in for all money. Swings across the line and misses as the ball goes past the inside edge, to crash into the stumps behind. Mumbai Indians 100/3 in 13 overs vs Kings XI Punjab (174/6) in Indore

Mujeeb Ur Rahman is back on.

Hardik Pandya walks into the middle next.

22.53 IST: OUT! That's the big wicket. Stoinis strikes and puts his side back in this game. 22.51 IST: FOUR! Low full toss on leg, Yadav picks this off his pads and elegantly flicks it in front of square leg. Rajpoot out in the deep covers decent ground to his left, but can't stop it with the dive. MI 80/1 in 11.2 overs

22.48 IST: SIX! Right off the meat. Good shot, will certainly relieve some pressure off his shoulders. Loopy and full on off, Kishan kneels down and slog sweeps it into the mid-wicket stands for a maximum. MI 76/1 in 10.5 overs

22.45 IST:

22.43 IST: FOUR! Fifty for Suryakumar Yadav, his 4th in the Indian Premier League. Another superb knock from the opener, he's been in fine touch this season. Short and wide, it's cut fiercely behind point. Third man tries to cut it off but can't get to it. MI 66/1 in 9.4 overs

22.42 IST: SIX! That's gone high into the night sky and then more importantly, well across the fence too. Fuller and just outside off, possibly the slower one which Yadav picks up. Launches it straight back down the ground and hits the sightscreen. MI 62/1 in 9.3 overs

22.33 IST: FOUR! That's absolutely smashed. The fifty comes up for Mumbai. Quite full and just outside off, Yadav leans ahead and drives it back through mid on, beating the man in the deep to the boundary line. MI 53/1 in 8.1 overs

Marcus Stoinis on to bowl.

22.32 IST:

22.29 IST: FOUR! Welcomes Axar with a boundary. Poor ball to begin with. Serves a half-tracker on middle and off, Yadav moves inside the line and pulls it behind square leg along the ground for a boundary. MI 44/1 in 7.1 overs

Axar Patel on to roll his arm over.

22.28 IST: Just a single from the over, good one from the Punjab skipper. MI 40/1 in 7 overs

22.25 IST:

Ishan Kishan in to bat next.

22.23 IST: OUT! Edged and taken! Lewis is gone and Punjab rejoice. Mujeeb continues his good run with the ball. Short and wide outside off, a hint on turn away and that's enough to get the West Indian. He looks to cut but gets a feather behind and Rahul takes it swiftly. KXIP 38/1 in 5.4 overs

22.10 IST: Seven runs off Ashwin's second over. Restricting the openers from playing big. MI 20/0 in 3 overs

22.06 IST: SIX! Suryamar smashes that for a maximum which was turning out to be a pretty good over by Rajpoot. Goes deep to square-leg and just too high for the fielder present. MI 14/0 in 2 overs

22.03 IST: DRS taken and Punjab lose their review. A short ball hits the pads and not the bat, leading to KXIP taking the review. Suryakumar is safe. MI 7/0 in 1.2 overs

Brief Preview: With their eyes firmly set on the IPL 2018 Play-Offs, Ravichandran Ashwin-led Kings XI Punjab will host bottom-placed defending champions Mumbai Indians at the Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore, on Friday. The three-time IPL champions are staring at an inglorious exit having brought up the rear so far, with only two wins in their kitty from eight games. On the other hand, KXIP have won five out of their seven games, slowly but surely inching towards the playoffs.

A week off has certainly helped the likes of Chris Gayle and KL Rahul recharge their batteries and they will be aiming to come out all guns blazing at their adopted home. Kings XI Punjab's season has been about collective performance. They don't have the 'Orange Cap' or 'Purple Cap' holders in their ranks but everyone has chipped in with impactful performances as and when required. (Read Full Match Preview)
