Gautam Gambhir sends out a motivational message for Kolkata Knight Riders

Five losses on the trot, Kolkata Knight Riders are currently enduring a rough time in the ongoing 12th edition of the Indian Premier League and their chances of the making the IPL playoffs grow slim each day. The Kolkata based franchise are at the present moment sitting on the sixth spot in the points table and need to win all of their remaining matches to make it to the final four.

Backing the Knight Riders is former captain Gautam Gambhir and he has an inspiring message for Dinesh Karthik and Co. Gambhir led KKR to two IPL titles (2012 & 2014) and believes that KKR need to regroup and go for the kill.

"It’s tough to see @KKRiders go down like this. Come on guys there is loads of talent in that dressing room. Just regroup fast, believe in yourself and go for the kill. We can do it!!!!!!"

With four matches remaining, KKR have to step up and actually go for the kill if they are to qualify for the playoffs. The middle order has been KKR's weakness in recent matches, with Andre Russell as well slowing down. Their spinners have also been taken for a ride with Kuldeep Yadav, Sunil Narine and Piyush Yadav proving to be ineffective as well.

Nitish Rana, Dinesh Karthik and Narine are also going through a slump which KKR need to work upon.

KKR skipper Karthik has also admitted that their bowling unit has been 'off colour' and their fielding needs plenty of improvement.

"Our bowling has been off-colour in the tournament. Our fielding needs a lot of improvement too," said skipper Karthik, who is also under scanner due to his poor form and a controversial berth in the World Cup-bound squad.

KKR next host Rajasthan Royals on April 25 (Thursday) at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
