Chris Gayle has been an entertainer for a long time now.

West Indian opener Chris Gayle has equalled the record of most number of sixes in international cricket previously held by charismatic Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi. In the third and final ODI against Bangladesh on Saturday, Gayle hit five sixes to raise his six-tally to 476 - the mark previously set by Afridi.

The Jamaican is currently one of the most fearsome batsmen in limited-overs cricket and is often known to hit sixes at will against pace or spin. He has also completed this milestone in fewer matches (443) than the Pakistan all-rounder (524).

Gayle is however certain to surpass the tally and make the record solely his own when he takes the field against Bangladesh in the three-match T20I series starting on August 1.

Following is the list of ten players with the highest number of maximums in all internationals - Tests, ODIs and T20Is:

Player Matches Sixes
Chris Gayle 443 476
Shahid Afridi 524 476
Brendon McCullum 432 398

AB de Villiers 420 328
Rohit Sharma 292 291
Martin Guptill 281 274
Sachin Tendulkar 664 264
Adam Gilchrist 396 262
