New Delhi: The Board of Control of Cricket is keen to rope in former Indian skipper and batting great, Rahul Dravid as head coach of the Indian cricket team.

According to a report by The Times of India, the BCCI advisory committee comprising of former cricketers Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman are interested in offering Dravid the role

of head coach.

Although Ravi Shastri, whose term as the team director ended with India's exit from the ICC World T20, is keen on working with team India but he is not being considered for the job.

The Times of India report also said that BCCI had approached former Australian batsman Mike Hussey for the job, but it did not work out.

The report said that the Board is continuing the contracts of assistant coach Sanjay Bangar, bowling coach Bharat Arun and fielding coach R Sridhar.

Dravid, in his current tenure as the coach of the India A and the India Under-19 side, coached the latter to the final of the recent U-19 World Cup in Bangladesh.

Considered to be among the few classical Test match batsmen of contemporary cricket, Dravid is a veteran of the game with 164 Test matches and 344 ODIs behind him
