AUSTRALIA VS SOUTH AFRICA, 2019 WORLD CUP:

Australia vs South Africa, 2019 World Cup: So the final four are sorted! India finish on top, hence take on New Zealand on Tuesday while Australia met England on Thursday. But what a match this was. Aggregating 640 runs at an average of 40 per wicket. Almost went down to the wire, although at one stage, it looked like South Africa were all over Australia like a rash. (Match Scorecard - Australia vs South Africa) (When and Where to watch - AUS vs SA)

Highlights, 2019 World Cup, Match 45: South Africa beat Australia by 10 runs

01.54 IST: Andile Phehlukwayo to Nathan Lyon, OUT! Caught! That ends the game. SOUTH AFRICA WIN BY 10 RUNS. Andile take the last wicket of the match. A length ball around off, Lyon gets down and mows a slog towards mid-wicket. But he finds Aiden Markram running to his left who completes an easy catch.

01.49 IST: Kagiso Rabada to Mitchell Starc, OUT! BOWLED! Full and straight, Starc swings hard but misses. The ball hits the timber and Rabada gives Starc a send-off.

01.46 IST: Kagiso Rabada to Usman Khawaja, OUT! BOWLED! Khawaja has played that back onto the stumps! Usman stands there in remorse while Rabada smiles. It is not a wry smile, it is just a genuine one. He too, agrees that Khawaja is a bit unlucky. A full toss outside off, Uzzie gets across and looks to paddle but hits it from the bottom half of the bat onto the stumps! Well tried, brave lad.

01.38 IST: Kagiso Rabada to Usman Khawaja, FOUR! Nicely done. A short ball, down the leg side, would have been a wide had it been left alone but Khawaja helps it with a pull over the keeper to the fine leg fence.

01.32 IST: Chris Morris to Alex Carey, OUT! Caught in the deep! Fighting knock from Carey comes to an end. He tried very hard to take Australia home but the task is too steep. A cutter outside off, Carey backs away and tries to carve it over cover but finds Aiden Markram at sweeper, who comes running in and takes a diving catch! The entire Protean unit mobs him. That surely should be the game? 51 more needed from 28 balls.

01.27 IST: Andile Phehlukwayo to Pat Cummins, OUT! Caught! The 45-run stand is broken. Another slower ball fetches a wicket. This is also at 106 kph. On a length outside off, Cummins looks to go big, coming forward and aiming for a home run in baseball, but only manages to sky it high in the air. JP Duminy comes running in from long off and takes it Australian style. 54 more needed from 32 balls.

01.15 IST: Imran Tahir to Alex Carey, FOUR! Excellent batting! Full and outside off, Carey comes down the track and lofts it down the ground. Andile Phehlukwayo runs forward initially, then has to go back and sideways. In the end, misses the ball and it goes through!

01.13 IST: Imran Tahir to Alex Carey, SIX! Up, up and away! Full and around middle, Carey gets down and slog sweeps it over long on! 250 UP FOR AUSTRALIA.

01.11 IST: Imran Tahir to Pat Cummins, FOUR! How good is that from Patrick Cummins? A flighted leg spinner outside off, Cummins comes forward and lofts it wide of cover for a boundary!

01.03 IST: Imran Tahir to Alex Carey, FOUR! WHOOSH! Full and outside off, Carey comes down the track and hammers it past the non-striker to the long off fence!

00.59 IST: Dwaine Pretorius to David Warner, OUT! Caught! That is a stunner from Chris Morris and is that the game? What a catch. A length ball, around middle, Warner stays leg side of the ball and looks to heave it through the on side. But the ball hits the inner half of the bat and hence, he does not get much elevation. That shot was on because mid on was brought up just before the first ball was about to be bowled. The ball then goes wide of mid on but Chris Morris flies to his left and takes it two-handed! He then gets up and stands with a broad smile with the crowd applauding. Excellent catch and now, time to applaud the batsman. Terrific knock, albeit in a losing cause. End of a 108-run stand, 99 more needed from 65 balls.

00.52 IST: Kagiso Rabada to Alex Carey, FOUR! Nice way to get to your half century! A short ball, around middle, Carey arches back and then deftly guides it over the keeper to the third man fence! His 4th ODI half century, third in this season!

00.35 IST: Morris to Warner, FOUR! There's the hundred for Warner! A classy innings from him once again, the third of the World Cup.

00.34 IST: Chris Morris to David Warner, FOUR! Moves to 97! A short ball, down the leg side, Warner helps it via a pull to the fine leg fence!

00.28 IST: Imran Tahir to David Warner, FOUR! Into the 90s moves Warner and the 50-run stand comes up as well! Full and outside off, David lofts this over mid off and gets a boundary!

00.20 IST: Tabraiz Shamsi to Alex Carey, FOUR! Terrific shot. Full and around of, Carey gets across and whips it through mid-wicket for a boundary!

00.14 IST: JP Duminy to David Warner, FOUR! Cleverly played by Warner! He is aware of where the fielders are and goes for the switch hit and connects well to just play it over short third man for a boundary.

00.09 IST: Tabraiz Shamsi to David Warner, Full and outside off, Warner comes down the track and drives it in the air. Miscues it uppishly and Rassie van der Dussen runs back but cannot get there. Two runs taken.

23.56 IST: Kagiso Rabada to Glenn Maxwell, OUT! Caught behind! Whoa, QdK, take a bow! That was a stunner. A short ball outside off, Maxwell looks to pull but the ball takes the outside edge. It flies behind but de Kock leaps in the air stretches out his right glove and takes it! De Kock had already taken a stunner to dismiss Virat Kohli earlier in the tournament and he takes this one towards the end of the tournament.

23.41 IST: Andile Phehlukwayo to David Warner, FOUR! Short and pulled over mid-wicket!

23.40 IST: Andile Phehlukwayo to Glenn Maxwell, FOUR! WHACK! A short ball outside off, Maxwell pulls it over mid-wicket for a boundary!

*Glenn Maxwell is the new man in.

23.31 IST: RUN OUT! What a brilliant piece of wicket-keeping there from Quinton de Kock! That was almost Dhoni-esque. Not a very good throw from Rabada as it keeps low, but De Kock wistfully changes the direction of the ball with a soft touch ahead of the stumps and the ball hits straight at the wickets! A big blow for Australia. Stoinis out for 22. 95/3 in 18.3 overs.

23.30 IST: Imran Tahir to David Warner, RUN-OUT CHANCE! Stoinis looks in trouble here!

23.29 IST: Imran Tahir to David Warner, FOUR!

23.27 IST: Chris Morris to Marcus Stoinis, FOUR! A brilliant pull on a poor short ball from Stoinis.

23.25 IST: Chris Morris to David Warner, 1 run. FIFTY for Warner!

23.15 IST: Chris Morris to David Warner, SIX! Short and pulled away over mid-wicket!

23.11 IST: Dwaine Pretorius to Marcus Stoinis, FOUR! Nice chip shot. Full and around middle, Warner lofts it over the bowler and beats mid on. Once the ball lands, it races down the slope.

22.57 IST: Chris Morris to David Warner, FOUR! Morris goes short and outside off. Warner takes full toll of it by slashing it through the cover region . 50 up for Australia not the start they were expecting.

22.44 IST: Kagiso Rabada to David Warner, TOP EDGE, FOUR! A short ball, around middle and leg, Warner looks to pull but gets a top edge. Dwaine Pretorius runs back from short fine leg but the ball evades him. Bounces once before meeting the fence.

* Marcus Stoinis walks in at number 5, replacing Smith.

22.38 IST: Dwaine Pretorius to Steve Smith, OUT! LBW! Smith is gone as well! Oh dear... Australia are hastening downhill pretty quickly. A length ball, outside off, Steve gets across to flick but misses and is hit high on the left thigh, above the knee roll. Pretorius appeals, umpire Dharmasena thinks for a while and then raises his finger!

22.25 IST: Kagiso Rabada to Steve Smith, ANOTHER RUN OUT MISSED! Around middle and off, worked through mid-wicket. Smith takes a couple and then Warner calls for the third. It is a late call and Smith takes off late. The throw comes in to de Kock with Smith halfway down. The keeper fires it to Rabada who tries to deflect it onto the stumps but misses! Steve's dive would not have saved him.

22.18 IST: Imran Tahir to Usman Khawaja, FOUR! CARESSED! There comes the first boundary of the Australian run chase. Full and outside off, Khawaja leans and drives it wide of mid off for a boundary!

22.11 IST: Imran Tahir to Aaron Finch, OUT! Caught! Straight to the man. Tahir is off on his marathon run! Outside off, Finch punches it uppishly through the covers and hits it straight to Aiden Markram. He takes a sharp catch going to his right. So South Africa have won half the battle. Got rid of the skipper. The win prediction has gone to 80 percent. Get Warner soon and that will be 100.

Welcome back for the chase. The Australian openers David Warner and Aaron Finch are out in the middle. The South African players have taken their positions. Imran Tahir will start things off to Warner.

21.36 IST: Pat Cummins to Rassie van der Dussen, OUT! No century for Rassie but what an innings it has been. 95 from just 97 balls, with 4 fours and 4 sixes. Took Australia by the horns and pummeled them.

21.25 IST: Mitchell Starc to Dwaine Pretorius, OUT! Perfect yorker and Starc gets his second wicket. Probably one of the rare good balls that he has bowled all afternoon.

21.22 IST: Pat Cummins to Rassie van der Dussen, FOUR! A short ball, pulled through square leg for a boundary!

21.18 IST: Pat Cummins to Rassie van der Dussen, SIX! VIOLENCE! A short ball, around off, pulled over mid-wicket for half a dozen!

21.07 IST: Glenn Maxwell to JP Duminy, FOUR! Excellent shot. Duminy dances down the track well in advance and on seeing that, Maxwell fires it wide outside off. Still, Duminy reaches out and carves it over cover for a boundary!

20.59 IST: JP Duminy walks in to bat.

20.57 IST: Jason Behrendorff to Faf du Plessis, OUT! Caught at short third man! No daddy hundred for Faf. He gets to a century and then departs. The slower ball does the trick.

20.32 IST: Jason Behrendorff to Faf du Plessis, FOUR! Not pretty but he will get a boundary! A short ball, outside off, Faf rocks back to pull but is cramped for room. He miscues his shot and it lobs over Aaron Finch at mid on and beats Glenn Maxwell running to his right at long off.

17.32 IST: TOSS! South Africa have won the toss and opted to bat first against Australia in Manchester.

Brief Preview: A top spot in the points tally will be up for grabs for Australia when they face South Africa in their last group stage encounter in the ongoing World Cup at the Old Trafford on Saturday. Australia have played like a champion team and barring the game against India, which they lost while chasing a total in excess of 350, they have dominated all the games and have looked in great touch. South Africa, on the other hand, will like to forget what has conspired for them in this edition of the showpiece event and play for pride against the mighty Aussies. Their batting, which relies highly on the likes of Faf du Plessis, Hashim Amla and Quinton de Kock, has not been consistent, leading to them being knocked out of the competition in the group stage itself.
