Rahul got bowled for just four runs off his second ball by England seamer Sam Curran.

Indian batsman Lokesh Rahul was slammed by Indian fans on Twitter after his flop show in the first innings of the ongoing Test in Birmingham. Rahul was selected in the playing XI in the place of Indian Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara who was dropped after performing poorly in the practice game.

Rahul played a miserable shot against left-arm English seamer Sam Curran and got bowled for just four runs off his second ball. Rahul is a technically gifted batsman but playing him in place of Pujara was a big gamble as the Saurashtra batsman has been the pillar of the Indian Test team for the past few years. Pujara also played some County cricket recently to prepare himself for the ongoing tour.

However, some Indian fans took to Twitter to display their anger on KL Rahul:

In the first innings, the Indian top-order collapsed miserably against the swing bowling of English seamer Sam Curran. Middle-order batsman Ajinkya Rahane continued his poor run with the bat and was dismissed by Ben Stokes for just 15 runs. Indian skipper Virat Kohli was the only batsman who stood tall against the swing bowling of England bowlers and gave India a fighting chance in the first Test at Edgbaston. Kohli hit 22 fours and a six in his power-packed inning, while shutting down every critic who was doubting his ability in England.
