Anurag Thakur is a member of 16th Lok Sabha from Hamirpur in Himachal. He was first elected to Lok Sabha in May 2008 in a by poll as a candidate of Bharatiya Janata Party.He is three time MP, being a member of 14th, 15th and 16th Lok sabha. He was the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) from May 2016 to February 2017. He stepped down from his position of BCCI president after the Supreme Court ordered him to cease and desist works within BCCI. Sports Minister Anurag Thakur came hard on Hockey India for unilaterally deciding to pull out of 2022 Commonwealth Games, saying the national federation is bound to consult with the government.
Thakur also thanked his predecessor Kiren Rijiju for his contributions in the run-up to the Tokyo Games.
"The total length of doubling the line is 132.92 km and the project will be completed in 4-years. The line capacity utilization of the Nimach-Ratlam section is up to 145.6 pc with maintenance blocks," Anurag Thakur added.
Speaking at the event, Thakur said, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi started this Fit India campaign in 2019 to make aware people of health and fitness".
