BJP president Nitin Gadkari on Thursday  alleged that the Congress-led UPA government was not serious about internal and external security due to which Chinese forces had made incursions inside India and Maoist-supported Naxalism was raising its head.

"China has made deep incursion in our territory while Pakistan is continuing with the policy of abetting infiltration and terrorism in Kashmir. Maoist-supported Naxalism is raising its head in the country and they are conspiring to spread it into 220 districts of the country," Gadkari said in his address at the concluding session of the two-day Madhya Pradesh BJP's State Executive meeting in Ratlam(MP ).

"This shows that the Congress government is not serious on the issue of internal and external security of the country," he said. Gadkari held the economic policies pursued by the UPA Government responsible for the rising inflation in the country.

"The wrong economic policies of the UPA government is responsible for the rising inflation in the country making it hard for the common man to survive. To protest against the spiralling prices the BJP has given a call for Bharat Bandh on July 5," he said.

Because of the wrong policies, inflation and unemployment is rising, agriculture growth rate is declining, people are suffering from hunger and all this has affected the country's economic condition, he added.

Citing figures from reports of the Planning Commission, Gadkari said that over 41 crore people fell in below poverty line category despite the country achieving independence over 60 years ago. He said that the welfare schemes being implemented by the BJP-ruled eight states had proved the notion that the BJP is a party of capitalists wrong.

Gadkari said BJP respected all religions and was free from the politics of caste. "BJP is a totally democratic party in which everyone has a right to put their views on any issue while in Congress it is not possible," he added.

The BJP President praised Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan for following people welfare policies and newly-elected State BJP President Prabhat Jha for discouraging the use of posters and banners.

The party is not against modernisation, but is opposed to westernisation, he said adding that in an effort to modernise the party, all state BJP offices will be connected with the Central Office through video-conferencing facility. PTI
