Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on Sunday  said people opposing Vande Mataram have no right to live in India as it was a patriotic song.

"All those people who are opposing Vande Matram have no right to live in India even for a moment," he told reporters when asked about Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind's decision against singing of the National Song.

He said it was a patriotic song and that it was sung when the Constitution came into force.

Nishank said the Natinal Song was sung during the first meeting of education ministers held under chairmanship of Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad, the first education minister of independent India.

The Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind had on Tuesday asked members of the community not to recite Vande Mataram on the ground that some of its verses are against the tenets of Islam. PTI
