Lucknow: Alleging corruption by Mayawati Government, opposition Samajwadi Party on Saturday demanded that the Centre order a CBI probe into the Yamuna Expressway "deal" following an agitation by farmers who are demanding greater compensation for the land acquired from them.  Leader of the Opposition in Uttar Pradesh Assembly Shivpal Singh Yadav also demanded that the central agency investigate "utilisation of funds devolved under centrally sponsored scheme".  "In the BSP regime, corruption is at its peak and even the ministers and bureaucrats are extorting money.

Chief Minister Mayawati is the mother of this corruption and we demand a CBI probe into activities of this government including Yamuna Expressway deal," Yadav alleged.  "To benefit an industrial house, land of farmers is being forcibly acquired which is a clear indicator that Mayawati is having a partnership in this deal," he told reporters here.  He alleged that a scam of Rs 119 crore in social welfare department had been detected in Lucknow.  "This government is neck deep into corruption and the chief minister is indulging into dramatics by holding review meetings," Yadav said.  He claimed that absence of an agriculture policy was responsible for the plight of the farmers in the state.
