Extending support to Centre's decision to initiate the process for creation of a separate Telangana state, Lok Janashakti Party president Ramvilas Paswan on Friday in Patna said his party favoured smaller states for ensuring better administration.
"Our party has already raised the issue of creation of separate state out of Andhra Pradesh ... There are similar demands for Gorkhaland, another state out of Uttar Pradesh, besides from Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh," he told reporters here.
"Smaller states are preferable for better administraion ... Small states like Uttarakhand and Haryana are doing well" he said.
When his attention was drawn to the situation in Jharkhand, where election is on after about a year under President's Rule, Paswan said "Jharkhand is an exception... The state could have done far better because of the resources it has." PTI
