Dharamsala (HP):  NDA government has laid a strong foundation for upliftment of the poor and farmers through various initiatives, BJP President Amit Shah said today.

Addressing BJP workers at the party's state executive committee meeting here today, he said NDA government was committed to the poor and will ensure that their plight improves.

Shah said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken a number of initiatives and evolved policies that take care of the poor, farmers and the downtrodden.

Listing some of the policies and achievements in this regard, he pointed to the insurance cover for the poor and Jan Dhan Yojna that will ensure their financial inclusion.

He said the irrigation scheme and increase in compensation for farmers by 1.5 times will ensure their protection during bad times.

Shah said through Jan Dhan scheme, Prime Minister Modi seeks to ensure that leakages are plugged and cash benefits reached the poor and downtrodden, which was "not done" during the "corrupt" rule of Congress.

The BJP President also highlighted the 'Make-in-India' campaign that will help create job opportunities for youth besides providing a corruption-free regime.

The BJP chief exuded confidence that the country's economy would grow faster than that of China and India will touch greater heights.
