Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi on Friday in Ahmedabad attacked the Centre saying that the UPA government is showing helplessness in the fight against Naxals and terrorists.

"When on the one hand innocent citizens and soldiers of army, CRPF and police are dieing in the fight against Naxals and terrorists, the central government has adopted the policy of escapism," Modi said at a function in Paldi-Vyas village of Gandhinagar district here today.

Referring to recent incident of 76 CRPF jawans killed by Naxals in Jharkhand, Modi said tough anti-terror laws like POTA and GUJCOCA are required to wipe out terrorism and Naxalism.

"But, because of repealing of POTA by central government, innocent people and policemen are being killed by terrorists and naxalites," Modi said at a function dedicating a school in the name of CRPF jawan Dilipsinh Chavda, who was killed by Naxals in Jarkhand couple of months back.

"When the entire world is formulating tough anti-terror legislations, the UPA government despite sacrifices by jawans of armed forces, has adopted the policy of helplessness and escapism," Modi said.

"They (naxals and terrorists) should be given reply in their own language," Modi said.

He said that sacrifice of those who have laid their lives for the country will not go in vein. PTI
