Kheda(Gujarat): In a hard-hitting rebuttal at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today, BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi today said, it was the Congress which partitioned India, allowed China to grab our territories, and ignored national heroes like Dr Ambedkar, Maulana Azad and J B Kripalani.
The Prime Minister in his election speech in Raipur on Saturday had alleged that some BJP leaders were trying to alter India's history and geography.
"Congress changed India's history only to favour one family, the Nehru-Gandhi family. Nehru and Indira Gandhi were given Bharat Ratna in their lifetime, Dr Ambedkar was given Bharat Ratna after 35 years, Sardar Patel was given Bharat Ratna after 41 years. They forgot Lal-Bal-Pal (Lala Lajpat Rai, Bepin Chandra Pal and Bal Gangadhar Tilak)", said Modi while inaugurating the Muslim Trust hospital here.
"We in the BJP do not divide our heritage. It's Congress which tries to usurp our heritage. 1857 freedom struggle was fought both by Hindus and Muslims, why is it being still referred in text books as revolt? A central minister goes to our Andaman and Nicobar Islands prison and insults our freedom heroes", said Modi.
