Kolkata : Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee on Thursday hinted that Assembly elections, due next May, could be held this year.

"Durga Puja is coming. Ramzan is coming. Election is also coming," she claimed, indicating that the Assembly polls could be held some time after the puja in mid-October.

"It is a matter of three or four months now for the Assembly elections. I don't say anything without specific information," she told a party meeting and asked party activists to prepare the voters' list and tone up the organisation.

"The biggest change will take place when there is a change of government here," she said. PTI
