Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Monday said many more steps will be taken to make Kolkata a better place after it emerged at the top of a survey as the best place in terms of quality of life among Indian cities.
A total of 21 cities, including Delhi and several state capitals, were surveyed by the Janaagraha Centre for Citizenship and Democracy January-May 2014. London and New York were the only two cities surveyed outside India to set a benchmark.
"We are happy that over the last three years, our efforts to restore the past glory of Kolkata and make it a truly great metro - from beautification to making the city clean and green and also improving civic amenities - is yielding results."
