On this Valentine's Day we would like you to know the couples who have not only made a mark in Indian polity but also have had a pleasant experience of togetherness since decades keeping alive love and sanity.1. Manmohan Singh and Gursharan Kaur: Married for more than five decades, this couple has been an epitome of closeness. Gursharan Kaur has accompanied her husband in every phase of life; a simple one and a powerful one. Leading a plain life, little had the couple known that their life was going to change forever when Sonia Gandhi announced Manmohan Singh as the executive head to lead a population of 1.2 billion. Even though their residence changed to a one located in the middle of a constellation of magnificent houses at Race Course, the heart of Delhi, their attachment towards each other did not know any change. Kaur accompanies her husband to every trip he makes; business or personal. They compliment each other perfectly.2. Rajiv and Sonia Gandhi: One of the most romantic love stories which not just changed the life of the couple but also changed the face of Nehru-Gandhi family legacy of politics. An Italian daughter-in-law was not of course what the ruling family of India was looking for, but, as they say, love knows no georgraphical boundaries, Sonia not just became the heiress of Nehru-Gandhi legacy but also shared an inseparable bond with her mother-in-law, Indira Gandhi.In 1965, Sonia met a fellow student who was studying mechanical engineering at Cambridge and with the course of time, became the man of her dreams. Rajiv was mesmerized by Sonia's beauty and it was love at first sight for him. They dated for three years as everyone, including Sonia, was hesitant towards taking the relationship a step forward and tying a knot with the most eminent family's eldest son. After a few discussions, they both tied a knot in 1968.After Rajiv's assassination, Sonia was devastated, but probably it was for Rajiv's deep love that she gathered herself and took over her family and Congress party. Akhilesh and Dimple Yadav: The youngest politician to serve as chief minister too has a love story. At the age of 25, when Akhilesh returned from Sydney after completing his masters in environmental engineering, he met the girl of his dreams. Dimple, who was 21 at that time, also fell in love with him. After a little struggle to convince his father, Mulayam Singh Yadav, Akhilesh got married to Dimple in 1990 at a grand ceremony in Lucknow. It was a fully star studded wedding. Actors like Amitabh Bacchan and Rajesh Khanna attended the wedding. Together they enjoy a contended family life and are blessed with three kids. Dimple has not only taken charge of Akhilesh's household but has also been a significant part of his political journey. Akhilesh, who has been credited for upliftment of Samajwadi party's public status and consequently its victory in Uttar Pradesh, has made public appearances with his wife Dimple. She has played a vital role in arranging his political campaigns.Akhilkesh has been heard a lot may times saying this in public that ``shaadi karke toh kismat khul gayi (got lucky as soon as I got married)''. 4. Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi: Married for more than three decades, this couple has been inseparable. They have been with each other through every thick and thin. When Lalu hd to resign after being chargesheeted in the fodder scam, it was his wife who stood in his support and took charge of the state of Bihar. Even though she had always been a housewife with not even a remote interest in politics she took over and became the chief minister of Bihar. She married Lalu at the age of 14 and ever since then has been his better half in every sense. She has been a perfect homemaker for Lalu's household. Together they have 9 children and live a happy family life.5. Sachin and Sara Pilot: The son of deceased Congress leader Rajesh Pilot and daughter of former Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah tied a knot around 9 years back on a chilling yet romantic day in the month of January. Although their marriage was strongly opposed by the Abdullah family, yet their love bloomed through those hardships and they became one for rest of their lives. They dated each other for over a year and after a short family tussle they tied a knot in Delhi in absence of Sara's family. Their love was seen to be one of a kind as it was a merger of two communities and religions. Though they had some previous family relations but their love tale began in London where both of them were studying.6. Priyanka Gandhi and Robert Vadra: Another Gandhi love story began in Delhi when Priyanka and Robert met for the first time in an Italian home in Delhi. They met at a party which was arranged by their common Italian friends. A little exchange of conversation made them develop a liking for each other. Priyanka, belonged to the first political family of India and Robert was a commoner, a soft spoken man. After a few meetings and some serious feelings developed, the coupled unleashed the relationship. Initially, the Gandhi family did not approve of it but Priyanka stood firm like her grandmother and the wedlock took place in a private ceremony in Delhi. The guest list was curtailed to 150 and the entire marriage ceremony was kept a hush-hush affair by the Nehru family. Together they have a two children and Raihan and Miraya.
