Ranchi, Mar 2: In a shocking incident, a Jharkhand MLA crossed all levels of decency when he tied the hands of a youth by a rope and hanged him from a tree for hours. The victim, Jitendra, kept pleading for mercy but the MLA was just nonchalant. Even the police remained a mute spectator despite being present on the spot.
It so happened that the family members of the victim complained to Jagannath Mahato, JMM MLA from Dumri assembly constituency, that Jitendra was returning home in inebriated condition on a daily basis. The MLA decided to punish the boy instead of resolving the matter peacefully. He tied the hands of Jitendra by a rope and hanged him from a tree for hours.
In fact, Jagannath Mahato, is infamous for his dictatorial approach. Mahato has been cocking a snook at the law of the land for long by holding these kangaroo courts. What is disturbing is that the police, as usual, always turns a blind eye towards his unlawful activities.
