Unnao (UP): Amid a row over alleged forced reconversion in Agra, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today said his government has ordered strict action against those responsible for the act.

“I have ordered strict action on the issue as it came to light. The local administration is also identifying those involved in the act and taking action against them,” Yadav said.

The Chief Minister alleged that false propaganda was being spread against his government as the opposition was afraid of the “good works” being done by his dispensation.

“Everyone knows who is behind Muzaffarangar riots. In Badaun case, the state government was put in the dock by the media and opposition parties. However, when its reality came to the fore, none of them apologised,” he said.  Yadav was addressing a gathering on the launch of a trans-Ganga project of UP State Industrial Development Corporation.

Attacking BJP, Yadav alleged that instead of fulfilling promises made in its election manifesto, the party has given “jhadu” (brooms) in the hands of the people.  “A party which won maximum number of seats (in Lok Sabha) and formed government at the Centre has not fulfilled promises made in its manifesto. Instead, it has given ‘jhadu' in the hands of the people,” Yadav said.

“I have never held a ‘jhadu' in my hands, but I was also nominated. So, I have announced award for those safai karmcharis (sanitation workers) working in different wards,” he said.

Cautioning Samajwadi Party members, Yadav said, “You all should remain alert from them (BJP). You never know which way they will come with a new ‘natak' (drama). They have associated Ganga with ‘dharma' and are talking about its cleaning. I do not know whether they will succeed or not, but I have initiated work in this regard as Samajwadis also believe in Ganga.”

Earlier, Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan briefed about the project, saying that a high-tech industrial city would be developed here on 1,150 acres.

Besides industrial, residential areas would also be developed  and this will create job opportunities for 1 lakh people and invite investments of Rs 10,000 crore.
