Lucknow: Factionalism in BJP in Uttar Pradesh over composition of the new working committee came to the fore with dissidents making public a letter sent by them to party president Nitin Gadkari seeking removal of certain office bearers who are "out to harm" the party.
The two-page letter in the name of "UP BJP Bachao Sangharsh Samiti" and distributed among mediapersons outside the venue of the state unit's working committee which began today, urges Gadkari to take prompt action against some "inactive" organising secretaries and replace them with efficient and dedicated workers for the party's success in 2012 assembly elections.
The letter is critical of organising general secretary of the state unit Nagendra Nath and organising secretaries in some districts saying that because of these persons, the new state unit president Surya Pratap Shahi "is also not free to take independent decisions."
Criticising Nagendra Nath, who has a strong RSS connection, the letter said Gadkari's resolve for increasing ten per cent vote share was being foiled by Nath who has "sidelined" 80 per cent dedicated and committed workers.
It says some key leaders have not been given due importance in the new committee while important posts in the districts have been given to those who have no base and have been working against party policies.
The letter written by a group of little-known party workers appears to be the fallout of dissidence over formation of new working committee in the state.
Leaders who failed to find posts of significance in the committee are likely be behind the letter which also states that leaders like Ayodhya MLA, Laloo Singh and senior leader Satyadev singh have not been given "due importance".
It also claims former Mathura MLA Chandan Singh left the party because of the organising secretaries.
Meanwhile, party spokesman Satyadev Singh, when asked to comment on the development, feigned ignorance about the letter and said all grievances should be raised in the party forum.
"The letter is addressed to the party president and the state unit would take action in case he takes cognisance to it", he added. PTI
