Don't just call me corrupt, show me evidences: Dikshit tells BJP, AAP

New Delhi: Rejecting BJP and Aam Aadmi Party's allegations of "widespread corruption" in her government, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Saturday challenged them to provide "proof" of their charges and accused the two parties of misleading the people in order to win the Assembly polls.In a sharp attack on BJP and AAP, Dikshit said neither party had an alternative agenda for the capital's development and exuded confidence for a fourth straight victory in the December 4 electoral battle."Both BJP and AAP have been defaming us by alleging that there has been corruption in our government. If you have come across cases of corruption, then please tell us where is the corruption. Nobody becomes corrupt if you keep repeating the charges. I challenge them to give us proof of graft. We will take action," she said.Dikshit was speaking at a press conference along with DPCC president JP Agarwal and AICC General Secretary in-charge of Delhi, Shakeel Ahmed."We have changed the face of the city in the last 15 years. We ensured inclusive growth. We've always worked on three principles: that there should be development but, at the same time, it should be pleasant and sensitive," she said.Alleging that both BJP and AAP were trying to mislead the people on a number of issues for electoral gain, the Chief Minister said they were yet to come out with their own "policies and vision" for the city."We do not know what they are saying. We do not know what their policies are. If they want to bring reform, then how will they do so," she said.The 75-year-old Dikshit said Congress was going to the polls with "confidence and conviction" as people of Delhi were well aware of her government's performance."We are going to the polls with confidence and conviction. Even if some people say we will not win a fourth term, I am confident that Congress will definitely come out victorious," she said.Ridiculing Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's remark that Dikshit was a ribbon-cutting Chief Minister, Ahmed said, "I assure you, we will cut ribbons in the future also, after winning the polls for the fourth time." In his rally here on September 29, Modi had launched a blistering attack on Dikshit, accusing her of shirking her responsibilities by passing the buck "up or down". He had also termed her a "ribbon-cutting Chief Minister"."Morning to evening, she has no work except for cutting ribbons," Modi had said.Agarwal also slammed Modi for his attack on Dikshit and said the Delhi government had worked hard to ensure development in the city."Our government has worked very sincerely... We complete projects that is why we cut ribbons. Should we invite them (BJP) to cut ribbons. Who is he (Modi). From where has he come. They (BJP) see everything wrong here. Our government has done enough for the city," the DPCC chief said.Praising Dikshit's performance, Agarwal, too, exuded confidence about a Congress victory in the December 4 polls.Meanwhile, responding to a query, Ahmed indicated that all sitting MLAs may not be given tickets for the polls."The election committee for Delhi will carefully examine applications of all ticket aspirants and decided accordingly. Then we will send the list to AICC," he said."The decision of the Election Committee will have to be accepted by all, be it siting MLAs or anybody else," he said.Ahmed said the process for selection of candidates had already begun and the first list would be announced "soon".On BJP's promise of slashing power tariffs by 30 per cent if it came to power, Dikshit wondered how the party could have made such a promise and said her government had been giving subsidies to consumers."The power tariff in Delhi is the lowest in the country. The rates here are lower compared to Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana. We have ensured round-the-clock power supply. But, at the same time, we felt there may be a burden (of higher bills) on the citizens. That is why we decided to give subsidies to 78 per cent of the consumers," Dikshit said.She also listed the achievements of her government in various sectors, including education, health, transport and environment.
