Bhopal, Nov 1: Even as Madhya Pradesh celebrates the 56th foundation year today, the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress have criticised each other over the infrastructure issues of the state including water supply, power supply and roads.

These infrastructure issues, had reportedly led to Congress' defeat during the December 2003 assembly elections, which are again likely to play a major role in the upcoming (November 2013) polls.

The Leader of the Opposition in the Madhya Pradesh assembly Ajay Singh said, “Despite the tall claims made by the ruling BJP, nothing much has been done about the development in the state, ever since it came to power in December 2003.”

There is acute power shortage in the state, which has hit the farmers badly, he said, adding the same thing is true about roads, “which continue to be as bad as they were in December 2003.”

However, Madhya Pradesh Urban Development Minister Babulal Gaur refuted these charges saying that under the BJP rule, a lot of development had taken place in the state.

“The BJP has done over the last seven years, what the Congress was unable to do in 50 years,” he said.
