New Delhi, Mar 6: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Akhilesh Yadav today visited Kunda to meet the family of the village pradhan who was murdered.

He assured quick action in the case and said that a CBI probe has already been ordered. He also announced Rs 20 lakh compensation each to the next of kin of the slain village pradhan Nanhe Yadav and his brother Suresh Yadav.

He went to Walipur village to meet the families of the slain village pradhan. Supporters of Raja Bhaiya staged an impromptu protest demanding "justice" for the former minister.

Nearly dismissing the  immediate arrest of  former minister Raja Bhaiyya, who has been booked in the murder of DSP, Akhilesh said that it first needs to be ascertained who committed the crime before analyzing the conspiracy angle.

According to postmortem reports of the DSP, only one bullet injury was found on his body and the bullet is untraceable, the police said. But his widow has contested saying there were three bullet injuries.

A letter seeking CBI probe was sent to the Centre by the Akhilesh government following intense pressure for quick action in the DSP killing in  Kunda on Saturday.

"The state government has sent a letter to the Centre in connection with the CBI inquiry into the Pratapgarh incident," ADG(Law and Order) Arun Kumar told reporters.

Raja Bhaiyya resigned from the post of Food and Supply minister in Akhilesh government on Monday.

ADG Arun Kumar also said that "before the criminal conspiracy, the crime has to be established first, only then further action is taken. As and when we get evidence further action will be taken. The government has already decided to hand over the case to the CBI".

He added that police is yet to find an eye witness of the incident and discover the weapon used in the murder.

He said that all the FIRs will be given to CBI and the inquiry will extract the truth.

Two people including Raja Bhaiyya's aide Guddu Singh have already been arrested.

In his defense, Raja Bhaiyya has said that it is a conspiracy framed by his political opponents against him. He also claimed that his aide, Guddu Singh was in Lucknow when the mob violence broke out. Raja Bhaiyya has a criminal record and has been sent to jail before.

DCP Zia-ul-Haq was killed by a mob in Pratapgarh when he was on duty and investigating the murder case of village pradhan who was shot dead over a land dispute.

BSP supremo Mayawati has demanded immediate arrest of Raja Bhaiya alleging that he was trying to interfere in the probe into the murders.
