Taking a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his remark that BJP faced more adversity in independent India compared to what Congress faced during British rule, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi today tweeted a prayer for him.

"Modiji a prayer for you: "Asatoma Sadgamaya Tamasoma Jyotirgamaya Mrityorma Amritam gamaya Om shanti shanti shanti", Rahul tweeted.

He also posted the meaning of the prayer in his next tweet which read, "Lead me from ignorance to truth - from darkness to light - from death to immortality. Let there be peace for all living creatures."

The ‘peace mantra’ tweeted by Rahul Gandhi is part of the ‘Brihadaranyaka Upanishad’, one of the 108 upanishadas.

Through his tweet, Rahul Gandhi has tried to convey the message to PM Modi that his comparison of struggles faced by ‘BJP in independent India’ and ‘Congress during British rule’ was not true.

Laying the foundation stone of the new BJP headquarters in New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said yesterday , “Even during the British times, the Congress party would not have faced so much adversity that we, our dedicated workers have gone through in 50-60 years.”

“BJP will be the only party which has faced adversities since its birth. It faced difficulties at every turn and its every effort was seen in bad light,” he added.

Modi further said that BJP were killed merely because they were not associated with prevalent ideology of those times.
