Karnataka cooperation minister H S Mahadeva Prasad passed away after suffering cardiac arrest in early hours of Tuesday.
The minister was found dead at a resort in Chikkamagaluru. The Karnataka government has declared three-days state mourning and declared public holiday on Tuesday.
Prasad also held charge of the Sugar from Commerce and Industries Department.
He was from the Congress party and represented the Gundlupet assembly constituency – he had been elected MLA in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly as many as 5 times.
The minister had gone to Chikkamagaluru to attend a private function at Koppa town. A close loyalist of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, he quit the Janata Dal(S) and joined the Congress along with the Chief Minister in 2007.
