Union Minister Giriraj Singh today stoked a fresh controversy with his remark targeting a specific group of people for writing ‘Hindustan belongs to Khwaja’ during a Tajia procession in his home constituency of Nawada.

Singh, who was in his home constituency Nawada today, told reporters that ‘those who wanted to make Khwaja’s India had in 1947 gone to Pakistan’.

“Mujhe logon ne bataya ki likha tha Khwaja ka Hindustan, Akbarpur mein... mai unse nivedan karta hu ki ye Khwaja ka nahi, Bharat Mata ka Hindustan hai. Jinko Khwaja ka Hindustan banana tha wo 1947 mein Pakistan chale gaye. (I was informed that it was written ‘Khawaja ka Hindustan’… in Akbarpur area. I humbly request them that Hindustan is of Bharat Mata not of Khwaja. Whoever wanted to make Khwaja’s India, had in 1947 gone to Pakistan),” he said.

Singh, a firebrand BJP leader, is known for his controversial comments. Last month, he had targeted the Mamata Banerjee’s Trinmool Congress for her contentious order banning immersion of goddess Durga idols on Muharram.

Singh, the MoS for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, had in past said that Hindus are being pressurised by political parties to change rituals in the name of administrative measures and vote bank.
