Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today postponed Samajwadi Vikas Rath Yatra scheduled on October 3.
He said that the new dates would be announced soon.
"I will lay the foundation stone of metro works in Kanpur on October 4. The date of yatra will be decided. Time has changed, now I will see from which 'disha' (direction) and time it should start," he said.
On September 14, Akhilesh had announced Samajwadi Vikas Rath Yatra, Vikas se vijay ki ore' through his Twitter handle with a picture in which he is seen sitting inside a bus.
Earlier, hundreds of supporters of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav reached the party office today demanding his reinstatement as the state president.
Donning red caps and carrying posters of the Chief Minister and his wife Dimple Yadav, the supporters started for the party office this morning, raising slogans like “Akhilesh ko adyaksh banao” (make Akhilesh the state president), saying only “Akhilesh bhaiya could lead the party”.
