Chennai Super Kings (CSK) leading campaigners Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh and Ravindra Jadeja reached Mumbai on Tuesday, four days before their IPL 2018 opening match against defending champions Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium.
With the core of their original squad intact, two-time IPL champions CSK will be eager to re-establish their dominance after returning to the lucrative T20 tournament following a two-year ban.
CSK head coach Stephen Fleming (L) on Monday hinted that skipper MS Dhoni would play a 'more prominent' role as a batsman this season by batting 'relatively high' in the order.
Besides captain Dhoni, CSK have also regained the services of key players such as Raina, Jadeja and star West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo using the Right To Match (RTM) option.
They have also roped in the services of seasoned campaigners like spinners Harbhajan Singh and Imran Tahir along with Australian all-rounder Shane Watson.
With a host of experienced stars in their ranks, CSK are formidable opponents for any team in the IPL 2018 and are one of the strong contenders for a place in the place-offs, if not the title.
