Sanju Samson to CSK on trade? Here's what we know so far
The rumour mill has been working overtime in the past week or so about a potential trade-off between the Rajasthan Royals and the Chennai Super Kings for Sanju Samson. How much truth is in there in those speculations? Let's look at what is known so far-
Sanju Samson, the Rajasthan Royals skipper, has been linked with a potential trade to the Chennai Super Kings in the last week or so. The Super Kings have started planning for life after MS Dhoni and rumours were rife during IPL 2025 that all wasn't well between Samson and the Royals, especially after the incoming of the new management.

As per a Cricbuzz report, Chennai Super Kings have in fact approached Samson among a few more franchises and looking at the package he offers - top-order, Indian batter, wicket-keeper, dasher, experience and captaincy - it wasn't hard to decipher why the five-time champions are after time.

However, the question is whether Samson wants to move or not. The first trading window opened a week after the end of IPL 2025 and will continue until a week before the IPL auction. Samson has time to weigh his options - money, loyalty, the offer, etc. - given that he has been part of the franchise since 2013, except the two suspension seasons in 2016-17.

As per a PTI report, a Rajasthan Royals official was quoted as saying that six of their players have been approached for a trade-off. With Riyan Parag being the next in-line after Samson, despite the lower retention bracket than Yashasvi Jaiswal, the Royals will also have to manage the off-field stuff before the retentions and auction in trying to keep all three of them or at least two.

If the worst does happen—Sanju Samson leaving the Rajasthan Royals—it will be disastrous for the franchise, who would have lost two faces of the side in two successive years after letting go of Jos Buttler before the last year's mega auction.
