To keep their playoffs dream aflot, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) thumped Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 60 runs at Dubai International Stadium on Sunday. In a do-or-die encounter, it was KKR who emerged victorious.
Shivam Mavi and Varun Chakravarthy also scalped two wickets each to derail RR's IPL 2020 campaign.
In the end, Rahul Tewatia (31 off 27) and Shreyas Gopal (23 off 23) stitched some crucial runs to guide RR to a respectable score on the board.
Skipper Eoin Morgan rose to the occasion when his team needed him the most. Slamming 68* off just 35 deliveries, Morgan steered KKR to a dominant 191-run total.
After being put to bat first, KKR's run-flow was bolstered by Shubman Gill's 24-ball 36 and Rahul Tripathi's 39 off 34 deliveries.
Royals suffered a batting debacle as they lost their first five wickets in the powerplay. Pat Cummins was the destructor-in-chief for KKR as he scalped a four-wicket haul to topple RR's batting unit.
KKR, who are at the 4th spot now, will have to wait for the results of SRH-MI clash which will be held on Tuesday.
