The first-ever edition of the T20 World Cup was played in 2007, when India lifted the trophy. Since then, many centuries have been scored in the showpiece event. Here we list out the fastest centuries in the history of T20 World Cup
1. Chris Gayle is on top of this list, having smashed a century in just 47 balls against England during the 2016 edition of the T20 World Cup. West Indies were chasing the target of 183 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and on the back of his unbeaten century, they chased down the score in just 18.1 overs.

2. Chris Gayle has also slammed the second-fastest hundred in the mega event. He reached his century in just 50 balls against South Africa in the opening game of the tournament. He scored 117 runs off just 57 balls with seven fours and 10 sixes, propelling the West Indies to 205 runs in their 20 overs. However, they lost the game as South Africa chased down the target in 17.4 overs.

3. Brendon McCullum is next with a 51-ball century against Bangladesh in the 2012 edition of the T20 World Cup. New Zealand posted a mammoth total of 191 runs for the loss of three wickets on the back of McCullum's 123 off 58 balls with 11 fours and seven sixes. The Kiwis won the match comfortably, restricting Bangladesh to 132 and winning by 59 runs.

4. Rilee Rosouw slammed the fourth fastest T20 World Cup century during the 2022 T20 World Cup against Bangladesh. He did so at the Sydney Cricket Ground, scoring 109 runs off 56 balls as South Africa posted 205 runs batting first in their 20 overs. Bangladesh were skittled for just 101 runs in response as the Proteas won by 104 runs.

5. Ahmed Shehzad of Pakistan is in fifth place after smashing a 58-ball century in the T20 World Cup in 2014. He did so against Bangladesh in Mirpur, scoring an unbeaten 111 off 62 balls. Pakistan won the match easily by 50 runs after posting 190 runs in their 20 overs.

6. Suresh Raina is next and the only Indian player on this list. He slamme a 59-ball century against South Africa during the 2010 edition of T20 World Cup. Raina scored 101 runs off 60 balls with nine fours and five sixes to his name. India posted 186 runs on the back of his century and won the match by 14 runs.
