World No.9 India's Atanu Das had a disappointing outing at the round, as he finished at 35th place. Pravin Jadhav, who is making his debut at the Olympics, was the highest-ranked Indian (31st). Tarundeep Rai endured a poor start as he ended 45th at the end of first half, but made good recovery to finish 37th. Kim Je Deok (KOR), Ellison Brady (USA) and Jinhyek Oh (JAP) finished at top-3 in the men's ranking round.
