India TV News Desk India TV News Desk [ Updated: April 13, 2013 23:12 IST ]
  • Zojila Pass on National Highway 1D, known as Ladakh s lifeline as it connects the region to the rest of country, reopened for vehicular traffic on April 6. The pass, which shuts down for about six with the onset of winter, opened 20 days earlier this year, compared to 2012, when it had opened on April 25. The clearing of the snow bound stretch across the 11,600 foot high Zojila along the 434 km long Srinagar Kargil Leh highway was undertaken by personnel of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), which maintains the highway. An army convoy was the first to navigate the pass, followed by civilian traffic. (Photo IANS)
