Manufactured at the Ajmer Workshop of the North Western Railway, the F-734 was based on the F class engines built by Dubbs and Company in Glasgow, UK in 1875.

In those days, India was importing British locomotive parts for assembly for four decades before the F-734 was built.

For the information of the train passengers, the F-734 locomotive train was used on the Rajputana Malwa Railway, which connected Delhi, Ajmer, Indore, and Ahmedabad. This train was used as both passenger and goods trains.

With the passage of time, the F-734 locomotive train was withdrawn from service in 1958 after 63 years of service.  The train is now preserved at the National Rail Museum in New Delhi.
