Himachal turns white! Heavy snowfall recorded at Atal Tunnel and other areas | In pics

Himachal weather: The higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh, including the North Portal of Atal Tunnel in Rohtang, received fresh snowfall on Tuesday. Police to ask commuters to avoid unnecessary travel as the roads turn slippery and visibility is reduced.

The local Met office has issued a yellow warning of thunderstorm and lightning at isolated places in Una, Bilapsur, Hamirpur, Chamba, Kangra and Solan on Wednesday. In the past 24 hours since Monday evening, shallow fog was witnessed in Mandi while cold wave was observed in Una and Berthin.

The local Met office has issued a yellow warning of thunderstorm and lightning at isolated places in Una, Bilapsur, Hamirpur, Chamba, Kangra and Solan on Wednesday. In the past 24 hours since Monday evening, shallow fog was witnessed in Mandi while cold wave was observed in Una and Berthin.
Kalpa in Kinnaur district received 0.2 cm of snow and 4 mm rain.
Reports of snowfall in Sissu, Jispa and sarchu in Lahaul and Spiti and Dalhousie in Chamba district also surfaced.

Light rainfall is expected over many places in the remaining parts of Kangra, Chamba, Shimla, Mandi, Sirmaur and Kullu districts by the midnight of February 5. The local Meteorological station had on Monday issued yellow warning of thunderstorm and lightning at isolated places in Kangra, Shimla, Solan, Kullu and Sirmaur districts.

A western disturbance could emerge as a cyclonic circulation lies over west Afghanistan and adjoining Iran, which is likely to move east-northeast wards during the next two days. As a consequence, light snowfall is likely at many places and isolated spells of moderate snowfall are very likely in Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti and higher reaches of Kangra, Chamba, Shimla, Mandi, Sirmaur and Kullu districts.
