Alia Bhatt’s Meghna Gulzar-directorial Raazi will be releasing in May 11. Ever since the film's annoucement, there has been a buzz everwhere. Alia, who was last seen in Badrinath Ki Dulhania, looks promising all the way.
The story revolves around Alia Bhatt's character Sehmat who gets married to a Pakistani officer played by Vicky Kaushal only to become ears and eyes of India.
The naive girl becomes an Indian spy on the order of her father played by Ranjit Kapur. There is love, betrayal and patriotism in the film.
Apart from Alia Bhatt, it is the ensemble cast of Vicky Kaushal, Rajit Kapur (Alia’s father), Shishir Sharma (Vicky’s father), Soni Razdan and Jaideep Ahlawat which add stars to Meghna’s film.
Meghna Gulzar has earlier impressed the audience with Talvar and Filhaal. She will be working with Bollywood actors Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal for the first time.
Major portions of the film was shot in the picturesque landscape of Kashmir, where the film is based. Raazi is based on Harinder Sikka's novel Calling Sehmat.
According to Meghna Gulzar, Sehmat required to be a gentle, feminine woman which the director found in Alia Bhatt.
Later, the woman goes through rigorous training under Indian Army Intelligence to pass through as a spy.
