Aishwarya Rai Bachchan hosted the Indian National Flag in Melbourne at IIFM 2017. She was awarded with the Westpac IFFM Excellence in Global Cinema award. She will next hit the screen as a singer in Fanney Khan which also features Anil Kapoor.
Sushant Singh Rajput receive the Best Actor award for his film M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story. He shared his happiness on tweeter “A Big thanks to Indian Film Festival of Melbourne for acknowledging me as the Best Actor for 'M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story'. I'm deeply honoured," he twitted.
Filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari accepted the award for Best Director for his film Dangal. The film Dangal cast superstar Aamir Khan who played the role of wrestler. The film also won People Choice Award along with Bahubali 2. Nitesh Tiwari said, "This is my international award and it will truly be remembered".
Actress Konkana Sen Sharma won the Best Actress award for her film Lipstick Under My Bhurka and the movie accredited at the film festival as it got Best Indie Film Award.
Rajkumar Rao won the Best Actor (special mention) Award for Trapped. He will be next seen on screen with Ayushmann Khurrana and Kriti Sanon in Bareilly Ki Barfi.
Director-Producer Karan Johar was awarded the Leadership in Cinema Award at IFFM 2017. Karan expressed his feeling and said, “This is my first time in Australia and what a special reason to be present here for it. For me filmmaking is always my first love. It's amazing how as directors we get to build people, break them emotionally, cheer them and make them feel happy".
Actress Malaika Arora also attended the award function. She was spotted in red dress. She looks ravishing in her attire.
