Veteran Bollywood actress Neetu Kapoor got hitched to Rishi Kapoor on 22 January 1980. The duo were teenage sweethearts and started dating while working together in 1975.
Rishi and Neetu first came together on-screen for the film Zehreela Insaan in 1974. While Rishi had already established himself as an actor, Neetu was just climbing the ladder to success. Nonetheless, love bloomed between them.
At first, Neetu Singh's mother Rajee was not happy about it as the actress was just 14 and had started to taste the success. However, when Rishi Kapoor proposed Neetu for marriage, she was happy. Since Neetu was the only bread-earner, Rishi even asked Rajee to come live with them after marriage.
After marriage, Neetu Kapoor returned all her signing amount and the industry to become a housewife. In spite of many controversies that she was forced into early retirement, Neetu Kapoor never left the side of her family.
Neetu Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor welcomed their daughter Riddhima in 1980 and then two years later, they were blessed with son Ranbir Kapoor.
In 2018, Rishi Kapoor was diagnosed with cancer and flew to New York for treatment. Neetu Kapoor did not leave him alone and stood by him as solid support in the foreign land.
Neetu Kapoor in an interview had revealed that the news of Rishi Kapoor's cancer was devastating for the family. She shared that they did not know how to deal with it but it was her who had stood like a pillar of strength for him throughout the dark phase of his life.
After fighting with the disease for two years, Rishi Kapoor breathed his last on 30 April 2020. Neetu Kapoor keeps remembering him by sharing memories on social media.
