Lahore, Dec 23 : Terming the PPP-led government as “the most corrupt” administration in Pakistan's history, opposition leader Nawaz Sharif on Thursday said he was prepared to launch a long march to press for his demand for an early election.
Earlier this week, Sharif had called for early polls, saying the situation in the country could deteriorate further if the ruling Pakistan People's Party remains in power for another year.
“We will win the next election and solve the people's problems. Our coming to power will help redress the people's problems,” Sharif told a large public gathering in Chishtian district of Punjab province.
Sharif said he was prepared to launch a long march to press his demand for early elections. “(Our earlier) long march helped restore the independent judiciary. Now the people should come out and stand by me for change and a revolution,” he said.
He described the PPP-led government as the “the most corrupt” administration in Pakistan's 64-year history. “We have to get rid of this corrupt government, which has failed to provide gas and electricity to the people,” he said.
Sharif contended that people were starving but the government was not concerned about them.
The current situation in the country is unacceptable, he added.
