Neighbours told the newspaper that the woman had 'more or less a normal life' but had 'suddenly suffered a complete loss of control' during the episode on Wednesday last week.
The woman was arrested on suspicion of abusing a minor in the family home, and police have launched an investigation.
She is now being held for psychiatric evaluation. Her daughter was taken to hospital for checks but was declared to be perfectly healthy.
