Colchester: A nine- year old school girl has started sneezing 8,000 times a day. She only stops when she is asleep and again starts sneezing the moment she wakes up. She has been unable to go to school as constant sneezing keeps her from concentrating in her classes.
As per media reports, Ira Saxena, an Indian who lives in Britain started sneezing an average of ten times a minute three weeks ago. She has been examined by several doctors has also been given various remedies to cure her but so far doctors can't work out why it is happening.
Ira told media, "It is really horrible. My face hurts every time I sneeze, it just shoots a sharp pain in my head and sides.
"I can't go to school, I can't finish the day because I'm sneezing so much. My friends think it's contagious, but it is not, so they don't want to sit with me, she said.
She further added, "I can't really go outside as it makes it worse and more violent. All I can do is sit at home. I can't really do anything."
Ira's parents have consulted many doctors , specialists and a private clinic. Her mother Priya Saxena, 42, a primary school teacher, told media, 'It started slowly and has progressed to become more constant and violent.
"She is not allergic to anything and has been given steroids, antihistamines and a nasal spray but she is just not responding to anything. No one has seen anything like this before. We have tried everything, even prayer. We just want something to work,"she added.
Now to cure her , little Ira is being treated with homeopathic medicine. During her an hour-long hypnotherapy session, she stopped sneezing but once the session came to an end, she again started sneezing afterwards.
