A female journalist was assaulted while she was live on-air reporting at the FIFA 2018 World Cup in Russia. The journalist later posted a video of the incident on social media. The Colombian reporter identified as Julieth Gonzalez Theran, was reporting for a Spanish news channel on June 15, when she was sexually assaulted by a man who ran off after touching her inappropriately.

The reporter was on camera and continued her live reporting while the incident took place. “I had been at the scene for two hours to prepare for the broadcast and there had been no interruptions. When we went live, this fan took advantage of the situation. But afterward, when I checked to see if he was still there, he was gone,” she told the media.

The reporter later posted the video on social media and demanded respect for female journalists. She wrote “we do not deserve this treatment. We are equally as professional and deserving. I share the joy of football but we must identify the limits between affection and harassment.”

The accused not been identified yet.
