Lucknow: Lucknow police has launched a massive campaign to remove red and blue beacons used in an unauthorised manner by people on their vehicles following a Supreme Court ruling.

So far, red and blue beacons have been removed from 536 vehicles in the state capital, where people flaunt their 'VIP status' for installing beacons on their vehicles.

India TV reporter recorded the video of how a woman passenger in a Mahindra XUV abused the Circle Officer of Hazratganj Dinesh Yadav who was  trying to remove the red beacon and dark screen filter from her vehicle and challaned her.

The lady used filthy abuses, then falsely claimed she was a journalist and later turned out to be one Ruchi Mishra, a resident of Naka locality.

In another case, a young man named Abhishek Kumar sporting a red beacon on his vehicle first claimed his 'papa' was a director and his 'chacha' (uncle) was a Congress leader Rudra Pratap Singh. The beacon was removed and a challan was issued.

In a third case, a black Tata Safari sporting a Samajwadi Party flag, a red beacon with a big hooter had a poster of Banda Lok Sabha seat candidate Bal Kumar Patel. The beacon and hooter were promptly removed by police.
