New Delhi: Hanuman is known as the wind god who protects one from all misdeeds or mishaps but there are very few people who know where he was born.
According to legend, Hanuman is the son of Anjana and Kesari, son of Brihaspati. Anjana was an apsara who was born on earth as a female vanara (monkey) due to a curse.
It is said she would be redeemed from this curse after giving birth to a son.
Anjana and Kesari performed intense penance before Lord Shiva to get a child.
