Lucknow: The case involving a marital dispute involving a woman friend in Congress MLA Sanjay Pratap Jaiswal's residence took a further twist, when Lucknow police revealed that UP Sports Minister Narad Rao had filed an FIR against the same woman for making midnight calls to him.
Nearly three months ago, the minister had filed an FIR at Hazratganj police station alleging that a woman was calling her at midnight, and after saying 'hello' used to remain silent. She frequently used to make such false midnight calls, the minister told the police.
Police obtained the cellphone details of the woman, and an FIR was lodged. The Sports Minister said, several influential politicians tried to persuade him to withdraw the FIR against the woman. Among them, included the Congress MLA Sanjay Jaiswal from Rudauli in Basti district.
On Tuesday, when a marital dispute erupted at Darul Shafa (MLAs' hostel) in the flat of Sanjay Jaiswal, both the MLA and the woman came to Hazratganj police station. It was there that the police inspector A K Verma disclosed that the Sports Minister had already filed an FIR against the woman three months ago.
On Tuesday night, the woman was handed over to an NGO, said Shiva Shukla, station officer, women's police station. The woman came to the police station again on Wednesday and promised that she would concentrate on her studies and would not stay with the MLA any more.
