Chennai, Feb 5:  Asia's premier air show and air exhibition Aero India 2013 in Bangalore will display vintage craft Tiger Moth and Indian Air Force's (IAF) heavy lift metal bird C-17 Globmaster III.

The two metal birds will show the spectrum of technological advancement between them, said a defence ministry statement issued Monday. The show starts Wednesday.

The Tiger Moth aircraft was resurrected recently as part of the IAF vintage flight. The aircraft will be flown for the first time.

It was the primary trainer craft for the Royal Air Force (RAF) during World War II and was the basic trainer aircraft in IAF from 1940.

Interestingly, the aircraft has to be cranked manually as it has no electric system.

On the other hand, the IAF's heavy lifter Globemaster is capable of carrying a maximum payload of 77.5 tonnes. It can carry combat vehicles, artillery guns and battle ready troops.

The four-engine aircraft is capable of taking off and landing on makeshift runways, barely 3,500-feet long and 90-feet wide.
