The AAP on Friday hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the CBI action against Manish Sisodia, and accused him of using the probe agency to defame the party and its leaders due to the "growing popularity" of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his model of governance.

Several AAP supporters were on Friday detained for protesting against CBI raid at the residence of Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia here in connection with the excise policy case, police said.

As Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia came under the CBI's radar and a raid was conducted at Sisodia's residence, the leaders from the Aam Admi Party sounded on one track and so did AAP Member of Parliament Raghav Chadha who lauded the Delhi government led education revolution in the region and said that there were many such raids in the last eight years that resulted in nothing.

Union Minister Anurag Thakur on Friday hit out at the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party and Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia over the alleged "liquor corruption" that the party indulged in under its revamped excise policy.

The CBI on Friday carried out searches at the residences of Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and IAS officer Arava Gopi Krishna besides at 19 other locations after registering an FIR in connection with the Delhi excise policy case, officials said. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered the FIR in connection with the alleged irregularities in formulation and execution of the Delhi Excise Policy brought in November last year, they said.
