New Delhi: In a shocking incident coming from Betul area of Madhya Pradesh, a man sold his wife for Rs 50,000 so that he could buy a bike, who in turn sold her to a third party.


The incident came to light when her worried father approached police to lodge a missing persons complaint and told them that he suspected her husband had sold her.

On SP's orders, officials sprung into action and first raided the agent's house only to find it locked.

However, they continued searches and were able to track the woman down in Chachauda village in Guna district.

According to a report in Amarujala, he told the police officials that her husband took her to Bhopal on June 4 on the pretext of getting her employed as a labourer.

On the way, he dropped off his child at his brother's house and then took his wife to Rajgarh. He then sold her to agent Arvind Meena in Nevali village and fled with the money.

Arvind kept her in his house and then sold her to a man named Chachauda village resident Dileep Paliwal, who forcibly married her and assaulted her often.

All three have been booked for human trafficking, efforts to nab them are on while the woman has been reunited with her family.

The duo got married four years ago and have a one and a half year old child.
