Bangalore: A 35-year-old mentally challenged man Sanjeevaiah has been rescued successfully by a team of firemen, police and 108 ambulance staff in a two-hour operation after he fell from Shivagange mountain peak in Karnataka  and then hung on at 4,000 ft on Monday.


Sanjeevaiah slipped from the mountain peak while trying to collect woods. The fall would have meant certain death had Sanjeevaiah not managed to grab hold of, and cling on to, plants growing on the side of the mountain.

Sanjeevaiah slipped and fallen 1,000 feet from the Shivagange hill.He kept holding of the plants on the side of the mountain at 4000 ft from earth for almost four hours before the rescue team managed to bring him up.

According to the reports Sanjeevaiah fell around 1.30 pm, but was noticed only at around 3 pm after which the  fire station in Tumkur was informed.

Sanjeevaiah is a resident of Shivanand Nagar(about 1km from Shivagange).
