New Delhi, April 5 : BJP national secretary Vani Tripathi  locked herself inside her car on Thursday night on  the busy road in Greater Kailash near Savitri cinema, after four drunk men, who appeared to be labourers, first hit her car from behind and then tried to grab at her after the collision.

Vani Tripathi told India TV that she was horrified to find hundreds of motorists watching, but none of them came forward to help her. Insted, the motorists blamed her for holding up the traffic.

Vani's car was being driven by her driver when a white coloured Scorpio hit the car from behind deflating its tyre.  There were four labourers inside the Scorpio, which belonged to an engineer.

The men marched up to the driver, opened the car door and lunged at Vani Tripathi sitting in the back, but the driver showed his presence of mind and locked the car doors.

Police had a tough time reaching the spot because of the traffic snarl.  Eventually, the four drunk men were taken to the police station, and from there they were taken to hospital for medical tests.

Says Vani Tripathi: "I  don't want to raise the issue of my post and position. What I want to highlight is: In spite of the nationwide uproar over the 16/12 Delhi Damini gangrape, not one of Delhi's citizens came forward to help me locked inside my car, cowering from those drunk goons."

Tripathi however praised Delhi Police for helping her in registering the case, and said police had a tough time in reaching the spot.
